Cases of certain lots of Acuvue Oasys (Vistakon) retail-ready contact lenses in a variety of prescriptions were stolen from a secure freight consolidation facility in Elizabeth, N.J., sometime between January 16 and 17, 2010. Johnson & Johnson Vision Care and the FDA ask for help from the eye care community in identifying these stolen lenses. Remember that all Johnson & Johnson Vision Care contact lens products come in sealed cartons and have tamper-evident foil seals on each blister pack. Johnson & Johnson Vision Care and the FDA advise eye care practitioners, retailers and consumers to check all contact lens products for signs of tampering or damage. Do not use the product if it has been removed from the sealed carton or if the foil seal appears to have been disturbed in any way. Remember: an unusually low price may be an indication that the product has been stolen.

The FDA is requesting that information regarding infividuals who may have been involved with this theft, as well as information about any suspected stolen contact lens products, be reported to the FDA's Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI) by calling 1-800-551-3989 or by visiting the OCI website, www.fda.gov/OCI.
